Meskel Garden House

A design project where the homeowners had a request for an outdoor living space with plantings that reflected their home country of Ethiopia. Few plants would actually grow in both arid, hot conditions and in humid, cold ones, so the garden design features a raised planter of rock garden plants with high color contrast. The lower areas of the property are filled with flowers that bear an uncanny resemblance to one native to Ethiopia, with the same bloom time, but completely opposite growing conditions.
